Heathfield Ridge 2000 Gold Medal Shiraz Coonawarra, South
Australia
Our members were bowled over by the 99 vintage and we rate this 2000 as
even better. We are lucky to have some ...but there is not much about.
Fruit from older vineyards in the region, give this wine its distinctive
varietal characters. The 2000 vintage was low yielding due to cool
weather early in the season. A long dry ripening period led to fabulous
Shiraz flavours of concentrated dark berry fruit, white pepper and heady
spice. An inviting bouquet of new American oak enhances a very memorable
wine.
Ainsworth 2002
Cabernet Sauvignon Franc Seville, Yarra Valley,
Victoria
Deep crimson purple in the glass. Aromas of cut leaves and faint mint,
perhaps even some green tea to add complexity. The palate builds
relentlessly, touching on dark fruitcake, with hints of dark chocolate,
mulberries and currants. Rich, lively and endless ..and plenty of medals
to boot. Cellar Case Price $275
Stirling Rocks 2002 Cabernet Merlot Frankland River, Western
Australia
From the cool climate Great Southern region of WA. Do you watch Monarch
of the Glen on ABC, … this is the wine they serve at their magnificent
banquets.
Goes well with venison or grouse …just ask the Monarch. It is a
wonderful blend of mint and berry cabernet, with the round plum flavours
of merlot

Pendarves 2001Verdelho
Hunter Valley, New South Wales
Pendarves has been recommended by the famous DECANTER magazine as one of
the best Verdelhos in the world. It is “the estate flagship” .. Grown on
the only limestone soil in the Hunter. Very full flavoured, rich,
lengthy, with plenty of fruit and honeysuckle characters, it is now
showing some delightful early bottle development
Balnaves 2002 Chardonnay
Coonawarra, South Australia
This is the best chardonnay we have ever had!!! Described by James
Halliday as outstanding, scoring 94 points out of 100, plus Balnaves is
one of the few Five Star wineries in Australia. This magnificent
chardonnay was aged in new French oak and displays a fresh white peach
bouquet, elegant lengthy middle palate with bright toasty vanillin
overtones and an endlessly refreshing finish. Wow!
Trevelen Farm Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
2002
Fergusson Valley, Western Australia
The bouquet exhibits wonderful rich sauvignon blanc characters with
hints of tropical fruits, followed by rich melon nuances on a long
smooth finish. Mouth filling and always tempting, I can never put the
glass down.
