Heathfield Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Coonawarra, South
Australia
Coonawarra, SA Hopefully many of you will remember the handsome and very expensive monogrammed bottle on their magnificent 2000 cabernet. Well its back and the wine is every bit as good as you would expect. Opulent, complex, deeply flavoured. Black cherries and brooding dark currants seamlessly harness the cedars and tobacco characters of gentle oak treatment. Nothing has been spared in the creation of this memorable cabernet and let nothing get in the way of a few more years in the cellar
Stirling RocksStirling Rocks Cabernet Merlot 2005 Great Southern WA
Great Southern WA From the cool climate areas of Great Southern. Did you watch Monarch of the Glen on ABC a few years back, well this wine maker had earlier versions of this wine served at their magnificent banquets. We were all delighted to see his label grace our TVs. Goes well with venison or grouse ...just ask the Monarch. It is a wonderful blend of mint and berry cabernet, with the round plum flavours of merlot. Unmistakeably Great Southern from the main limestone belt, with that delightful leafy mint and somewhat cold tea bouquet. It will keep for very many years.
Griffith Estate 2006 Shiraz Kuitpo Adelaide Hills SA
A truly remarkable shiraz, showing careful craftsmanship, great opulence, distinction and class. From the beginning, the colour is perfect, nose of faint white pepper and teasing spice indicating slower ripening of the grapes. Somewhat closed now we would love to revisit at 10 years and then 20years in a cool cellar. For a young wine the palate has everything you could look for, awash with dark cherries, faint box hedge, even a hint of clove and eucalypt, lovely vanilla from the fresh oak and a persistence most wine makers could only hope for. A case of this in the cellar is a must for all aficionados.

Balnaves 2006 Chardonnay
Coonawarra, South Australia
From a James Halliday 5 Star vineyard and made by a QANTAS wine maker of the year, there is no uncertainty about the pedigree, the skill, loving care .. and the result. Warmly fragrant, slightly buttery with a briary late finish. Mouth filling and ripe, with finely integrated oak characters. An impressive varietal wine typical of the best of the region.
Cuttaway Hill Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Mittagong, NSW
This Southern Highlands sauvignon delivers neat, sweet, ripe fruit aromas with nothing out of place. Tropical fruits are in the gooseberry spectrum with mouth-watering freshness and a crisp, finely honed palate. Superb!! In a recent Winestate tasting it out ranked many New Zealand wines and rated an incredible 92/100 points. Wow!!!
Gartelmann Jessica Verdelho 2008
Hunter Valley, NSW
Fresh lifted nose with a good dose of tropical fruit aromas. Fat and viscous on the palate with a lovely bright almost peachy flavour profile. We've had many wonderful wines from Jorg Gartemann and this one is a delight.
